Synopsis: Our story follows Malika, a 32 year old woman, harboring a secret she does not feel ready to share. Not with her best friend, Cassie. Not with Brian, her long term partner. Not with her therapist. Not with God. We catch glimpses into Malika’s past— moments that are small, but pivotal in her journey of understanding femininity and sexuality. Meanwhile, two of her ancestors, Beth (her Irish Catholic grandma) and Zuha (her South Asian Muslim auntie), have been sent to guide Malika. To do so, they first must discover what connects them and why they were sent. Perhaps to understand Malika’s story, they must share a bit of their own? This play interweaves real time scenes with theatricalized explorations of the different and shared experiences of womanhood across cultures and generations.
